Homemade Caramel apples

The spirit of Halloween has really got to me, so I decided to make.... HOMEMADE CARAMEL APPLES!

What you will need:
7 apples
Skewers, or something to spear your apples
Two 7 ounce bags of caramels
1/2 Tsp of Vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons of water
Sprinkles

Directions:
You will need to remove the wax from the apples so the caramel will stick, so I washed them in hot water.
Stick the apples in the freezer for 15 mins (The caramel sticks better when apples are cool)
Remove apples from freezer, place skewer in apple. You might want to use something sturdier, my skewers were a little flimsy.
Wipe the condensation off the apples with a paper towel.
In a pot melt together the caramels, and the water
Once fully melted, mix in the vanilla extract.
Dip the apple in the caramel, turn the pot at an angle to do this so you can fit the whole apple
Dip the bottom of the apple in sprinkles, this helps the caramel from pooling around the bottom so much
Place in the refrigerator to cool

Not a day goes by where I don't think of you.

You were two of the most influential people in my life and I miss you guys. Thank you for taking care of me when nobody else could.

I'm holding everything so close.

Jack O Lantern stuffed peppers

Pumpkin Sugar cookies and Apple Cider

Pigging out.

I love my family =]

Brrrr.

Cold days are really bad for me, because they just make me want to drink coffee all day long.

Craft Therapy.

So a few days ago I finished one of the projects that I had been working on for 3 weeks, I'm a little hesitant to post the pictures since it's a Christmas present I'm working on, So I'm going to show you another project I started.

Scrapbook paper picture frames.

What you will need: Picture frame ( I got mine for 25 cents from a yard sale)
                                  Scrapbook Paper
Mod Podge ( I made my own)
                                  Paintbrush
Clear Protective Spray ( I used clear spray paint)
                                   Sandpaper
                                  Marker

How to make homemade Mod Podge: All I did for this was mix Elmer's glue with water until I got the consistency I wanted, I like mine a little bit thick.

Directions: Place picture frame onto the white side of the scrapbook paper and trace the outside and inside. Then cut out the tracing.
Apply Mod Podge to the white side of the scrapbook paper, then apply to picture frame.
Chances are that you are probably going to have scrapbook paper hanging off the sides        a bit, but that's okay that's what the sandpaper is for.
Once paper is on the frame, apply another coat of Mod Podge on top of this.
Let dry, then add a few more coats of Mod Podge.
Once dry, you can start sanding down the edges of your frame, so the paper is even and there are no jagged edges.
When you are finished, Cover in a coat of clear protective spray.

And there you have it! Easy Scrapbook paper picture frames.

THIS IS AMAZING.

Make your own Nachos Bar

The things you can do after drinking coffee.

  • I had some random motivation hit me this morning while drinking my coffee, which is surprising because usually in the mornings I'm a zombie. Minus all the brain eating nastiness.

I decided to try a recipe I saw for donuts that you make out of a can of biscuits. That's right... I said can of biscuits! This recipe is super easy, so it was totally up my alley. Here ya go.

Things you will need:
  • 1 can of biscuits, you can use any kind except the kind with flaky layers it won't cook right.
  • Vegetable oil
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Butter

Directions:
  • Pour oil in a pan to heat up
  • Start cutting your donuts. I used the top of a soda bottle to cut out the middle.

    • The oil should be hot enough to cook with by now, use one of the donut middles to test the oil, if the oil bubbles up around the donut hole it's ready.
    • Drop donuts one at a time into the oil, cook until golden brown. They should take 1-2 minutes to cook on each side.

    • When done, remove from oil and place onto a plate with paper towels, allow to cool enough to handle.
    • Mix cinnamon and sugar together in a separate bowl.
    • Melt butter in a another bowl in the microwave.
    • Dip donut into melted butter, then dip into the cinnamon and sugar on both sides.

    • Enjoy!

These came out delicious. Really light and fluffy, my family loved them!

    CINNAMON ROLLS!

I only got to eat one before my family devoured them all :( I want more. I just want to eat and eat until I'm realllly full and then hibernate. mm

    Trick or treat...Smell my feet

    How cute are they? Seriously.
Last night was the candy scramble at the football field, which is basically where they throw a bunch of candy into the football field and turn out the stadium lights. The kids are supposed to use flashlights to find the candy. My daughter didn't have a flashlight, but that didn't stop her. Needless to say I'm pretty sure my kids dominated that field ;). I might be a little biased though.

    It's supposed to rain today.

    Guess whose back..

OH HAIII! I'm back. Obviously I haven't posted in awhile, We just got the computer fixed. My last post is actually the day our computer broke haha. Soooo we moved to Newton about 2 months ago, which is 4 hours away from Overland Park. The only grocery stores we have here are Walmart and Dillons... Which sucks because catching a good deal is really hard. Dillons here doubles coupons up to a dollar but their prices are usually so high that it doesn't make a difference. For those of you that know me, this really sucks for me because I am coupon crazy. I've been driving to Hutch the past few weeks to shop at Aldi, since there isn't one here and that's like a 30 minute drive.. Which brings me to today's story! Park City is only about 15 minutes away and the grocery store there, it's called leekers is doubling coupons up to and including 1.00 this week! Unlike dillons which only does up to a 1.00 and doesn't go over. I was soooo pumped, not to mention they are having good sales there this week anyways, so I loaded up the mini me and out we went. Here's my shopping trip!

First Transaction: 2 Digiorno pizzas @ 6.49 each; used 1.00/2 coupon doubled to 2.00 and when you buy 2, you save 1.00 on your next order. Total : 11.98 saved 2.00

    Second Transaction:
    1 Gallon whole milk @ 2.99
3 green giant vegetables @1.00 apiece, used .60/3 coupon- doubled made them 1.80 for 3, or .60 cents a box.
Honey Nut cheerios @2.00, used 75 cent coupon, doubled made it 50 cents
4 campbells soups @ .69 cents apiece, used 40/4 coupon, doubled made them .49 cents apiece
    2 sundrop sodas @ 1.59 used 1.00/2 doubled, .59 cents apiece
    2 kraft ranch dressings @ 1.00 each
    1 Act popcorn @ 1.00
2 Jif to go peanut butters @ 1.00 each, 55 cent coupon doubled, FREE!
    1 Doritos cannister @ 1.00
    Indian Corn Candy corn @1.69
    Taco shells @ 1.00
Tyson grilled chicken strips @2.50, used 1.00 coupon doubled, made it 50 cents.
    1 Purex laundry detergent @2.99
1 Lysol wipes @1.99, used 1.00 coupon, doubled, FREE!
2 lbs of bananas @18 cents a lb, 46 cents.
    Celery @1.00
Lettuce@1.00 used 1.00 of free produce when you buy 2 kraft dressings = FREE!
    5 lb bag of apples @ 2.99
    5 lb bag of potatoes @ 1.59
    Red onion @ .52 cents.

    Total = 27.29  Amount saved= 32.99

Highlights of my trip : Milk was 2.99 a gallon! Milk at dillons or walmart is well over 4.00 a gallon. I didn't have coupons for everything I needed, but that's okay because they had some awesome sales too. I spotted a few more deals I can swing next time I come in, so you can bet I will be there again this week stocking up on things for the winter.
